Let me cut right to the chase.

There are so many ways to describe what financial fitness is (and isn’t) so in this video I cut right to the heart of the matter.

Watch it here and also hear what I believe separates a great financial coach from a good one.

Transcript:

If I threw you a giant hunk of cash, how well would you handle it? Hi, I’m Chelsea Galicia Glauber and in this video I’m going to break down what it means to be financially fit and answer what is a financial coach? Imagine that scenario. Could you catch and hold on to that cash? If you drop it or it slips through your hands, that would suggest you’re not financially fit. Money is both a blessing and a responsibility and we’re either strong enough to handle it or we get crushed under the weight of it. If you have the ability to hold onto money, thoughtfully control where it goes and feel good about handling it mindfully, then you’re probably financially fit.

That last part about feeling good is super important. Being financially fit means that you have a healthy relationship with money and that your thoughts, beliefs and feelings about it make it easy and natural for you to take great care of it. If you want to know my test for financial fitness, be sure to watch my video on the five financially fit questions you need to ask yourself every month.

Now, a good financial coach helps show you how to implement a system into your life that manages your money. They teach you the actions you need to take like managing bills, setting up a budget, creating a plan to pay off debt, the basic stuff we all need to know how to do. Now, a great financial coach will help you get a healthy relationship with money. They can help you identify what thoughts, beliefs and feelings you have about yourself and your money that are negatively impacting the way you behave with it. The relationship part is my favorite part and when you get it right, the system feels again, easy and natural to implement and people feel free of the constant sense of dread and stress that they had about their finances.

If we do it right, it turns your stress response off so that your nervous system can finally relax and you can thrive instead of just survive. You can then look towards bigger goals like buying a home instead of just worrying about getting through this week or this month. You could figure your finances out yourself. There are some books out there, even my own, but if you need more than a book, check out my website, chelseagg.com for course and coaching options if you resonate with my approach. I’ll see you over there.
